Despite a difficult operating environment, we have exceeded most of our targets over the last 12 months.

Editorially, we have maintained our leadership as the number one business and financial news brand by delivering world beating output day-in-day-out. We continue to reach 8.5 million Affluent consumers each month.

We have also grown aggressively on digital as we continue our transition to become a truly multiplatform brand. In 2018, CNBC International surpassed its target to exceed 12 million monthly international unique visitors by 2020. In January 2019, we achieved 16.7 million international unique visitors – our best month ever – having averaged 14.95 million in 2018 (45% growth year-on-year). We also increased digital video views on CNBC.com by 57% year-on-year.

Our “digital only” programming helped views of digital originals exceed 171 million in 2018.
On social, our audience grew by 85% in 2018 – including 599% growth on YouTube.

Commercially, since its launch, our in-house commercial agency Catalyst has seen double digit revenue growth. In addition to traditional TV and digital spots, Catalyst has diversified its offering to create and grow new revenue streams. In 2018 the agency saw a 100 per cent year-on-year increase in the volume of commercial content and native advertising deals it undertook.

CNBC is now available in 410 million homes worldwide. This number is increasing as we grow our distribution reach. We are also now available in Indonesia, which boasts Southeast Asia’s largest economy and a growing middle class.

CNBC is now live on 550 aircrafts and 14 commercial and private airlines, and we have sold over 460 episodes of our long-form shows to a further 50 airlines in 2018.
